shield unearthed

the layers of snow and rock before me
barren in their spring thaw beauty
the sky above crests just a peak of blue
a canvas created season by century

the pinks the grays the greens each hue
lends richness to the story accrued
each shade proclaims an intimate hand
guiding the ancient glacier through

before the moss and lichen I stand
the ordinary captivating
memories moments may seem so bland
but pause and gain these sights so grand
