fling wide, you ancient doors
may every inch
of my being
be your home
you’ll be coming ‘round the corner
take a tour
gentle gaze receiving
see the untold places
uncurated — hidden from prowlers
pouncing with proclamations
clawing to condone condemnation
see the untold places
furnished in willfulness
old sheets shuttering shards of light
masking burgeoning beauty
see the untold places
dark corners draped
by shame and regret painful
memories sticking
like black mold to baseboard backside
see the untold places
hoarding piles fueled
by just-in-case inventory and one-click i-want-it cravings
squeezed into every crevice—nospacetobreath
see the untold places
hallway closets locked
by resentment and unforgiveness
t i p t o e past— fearful of what may spill
out through the cracks
through the untold places
you walk with assurance and calm
churning landscape stilled
open the blinds!
light the fire!
spread the banquet!
light every room
no place untouched
I bend to you
make me yours
welcome home
